Matrix Infosys

Matrix Infosys is on the second floor of Elliot Palace, which is at 118 Elliot Road in Kolkata. It’s an old building with high ceilings and those big windows that let in a lot of light when the sun is right. Our office has a few computers set up and a lot of cables running along the floor. I try to keep them tied together with plastic ties, but they always end up in a mess again. Working in Kolkata 16 means we are close to everything, which is good but also means it’s always noisy outside. The lift in Elliot Palace is one of those old ones with the manual gate, so I usually just take the stairs to the second floor for some exercise. Matrix Infosys is where I spend most of my waking hours. There’s a small corner where we keep the printer and the extra paper. The walls have a few old calendars hanging on them that I forgot to take down months ago. It’s a quiet place for the most part, except for the sound of typing. I usually make a pot of tea in the afternoon for whoever is around. Sometimes clients come in with their laptops and we sit at the big table to look at things together. It’s not a polished corporate office with fancy furniture. It’s just a working space where we handle our daily tasks and try to keep everything running smoothly on the technical side.
