We are M K Shah Teas and we have our office at 2/2 Justice Dwarkanath Road. This is in the 700020 area of Kolkata. It’s a quieter street compared to some of the main roads in the city. We deal with tea every single day. The office usually smells like different tea leaves which is nice. We aren't a giant corporate office with glass walls. It’s more of an old-school setup here. We spend a lot of time tasting different batches and talking to suppliers. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit much, but we manage. There are a few of us here who have been in the tea business for a long time. We don't try to be something we aren't. We just know a lot about tea and we spend our hours making sure the quality is what it should be. The building is an older one, so it has its quirks like the slow elevator. We have our tea breaks together in the small kitchen. It’s a practical environment. We don't use complicated jargon. If the tea is good, it’s good. If it’s not, we find out why. Most of our days are spent on the phone or looking at samples spread out on the table. It’s a steady kind of work. We’ve stayed in this Kolkata spot because it suits us. It’s not about being the biggest, just about doing the work we know. The daily routine is what keeps us going.
