Lakshmikant Agarwal is located at 1, Garanhata Street, inside Gopal Bhavan on the second floor. It’s an old building with a lot of character, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb if you're carrying heavy things. Garanhata Street is one of those narrow, busy streets where you have to watch your step because of the handcarts and people rushing by. Our office on the second floor is fairly quiet compared to the noise down on the street level. It’s a simple space with high ceilings and a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day long. We don’t have any fancy furniture, just some old wooden desks and chairs that have been with us for a long time. Most of the work involves keeping track of accounts and handling various bits of business that come our way. We usually have the windows open to let some air in, even if it brings in the sounds of the neighborhood. There are always stacks of paper and old ledgers lying around. It’s not a high-tech operation, just a place where we sit and get the paperwork done. Sometimes neighbors from other floors in Gopal Bhavan stop by for a quick chat or a cup of tea. It’s a very traditional way of working, without any of the modern bells and whistles. We’ve been here for a good while and it feels like home to us now.
