L. S. Publication (P) Ltd. is located on the 2nd Floor of 32, Metcalf Street. To get to us, you have to walk up a set of stairs that are a bit steep and narrow. The whole place smells like old paper and fresh ink, which is something you just get used to after a week. We have stacks of books and manuscripts everywhere you look. It’s not the most organized office, but we know where everything is, mostly. We work with authors and teachers to get their books printed. It’s a small team of us, and we do everything from reading the first drafts to checking the final page numbers. Sometimes we find a typo after the book is already printed, and it drives us crazy, but that’s just how it goes. My aunt handles the money side of things and she’s very particular about people returning the staplers. We spend a lot of time sitting under these flickering fluorescent lights reading through stacks of paper. The windows look out onto the street, but they are usually covered in dust from the traffic below. We don’t do any big advertising. Most of our work comes from people who have been using us for years. It’s a quiet, steady kind of life. We just like making books and seeing them finally finished and bound on the shelf.
