L. P. Sons

You can find L. P. Sons on the first floor of 89, Ns Road, right in the heart of Burra Bazar. If you’ve ever been to Burra Bazar, you know how intense it is. There are people everywhere, trucks unloading, and narrow stairs leading up to offices just like ours. We’ve been in this building for generations. The floors are a bit uneven and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to us. We handle a lot of wholesale trading, so there are always boxes coming in and out. It’s a family-run thing, and you can usually find one of the sons or the older folks sitting behind the main desk. We don’t have air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that have been spinning for decades. We drink a lot of tea and talk to the other traders in the building. It’s a noisy, dusty, and very busy way to spend a day. We don’t use any fancy sales tactics. People come to us because they know where we are and they know we’ve been here since their fathers were young. It’s about showing up every morning at the same time and opening the doors. The stairs are steep, so by the time you get to the first floor, you’re usually ready to sit down for a minute. We keep the books by hand mostly, alongside the computer. It’s just how we operate. We close up when the market slows down in the evening.
