Kolkata Knee & Shoulder Clinic

We are situated at 131a Akshay Kumar Dutta Sarani, right in the Sovabazar area. It’s an old part of the city with a lot of character and very narrow streets. Our clinic is inside one of those buildings that has seen a lot of history. You can hear the trams and the rickshaws passing by outside most of the time. Inside, we focus mostly on joints, so we see a lot of people limping or holding their arms stiffly. We have a few examination tables and some posters on the walls showing how bones work. The paint is peeling a little in the corners, but we keep the equipment clean. The staff here has been together for years, so we’re like a small family. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the football scores when it's quiet. Getting up to the clinic can be a bit of a climb for some, but there is a handrail to help out. We spend our days looking at x-rays and talking to folks about their aches and pains. It’s a busy spot because Sovabazar is always crowded. We don't use any high-tech gadgets for checking people in, just a simple register and a pen. People come in from all over the neighborhood. We just try to get through the day's appointments and make sure everyone gets a chance to sit down and rest their legs.
