You can find Global Computer right in Baghbazar, near the Sister Nivedita House. Being near the 2B bus stand means there is never a moment of silence around here. We spend our days surrounded by monitors, open CPU cases, and miles of cables. People from the neighborhood bring in their laptops when the screens go dark or the machines start making weird noises. We also sell some peripherals like mice and keyboards. The shop isn't very big, so we have to be careful where we step so we don't trip over a power strip. We’ve seen the technology change quite a bit over the years we've been here. Sometimes it’s a quick fix, like a loose connection, and other times we have to tell someone their hard drive is finally gone. It’s a messy job sometimes with all the thermal paste and dust inside the cases. We don't have a uniform or anything. Most of us just wear comfortable clothes and stay focused on the screens. The bus stand noise is like background music to us now. We take breaks when we can, usually grabbing a snack from the vendors nearby. It’s a local spot where people know they can just drop in with a tech question. We don't do much advertising; word of mouth in Baghbazar usually keeps us busy enough throughout the week.
