George Williamson(Assam)

We are located at 4 Mangoe Lane, which is also known as Surandramohan Ghosh Sarani. It’s one of those older parts of the city that has a lot of history in the bricks. George Williamson(Assam) has a long connection to the tea gardens, but here in the office, it’s mostly about managing the flow of information. The building is old-fashioned with high ceilings, and it can get a bit chilly in the winter months. We have a lot of old files and records because we’ve been around for a long time. It’s not a modern, high-tech space with neon lights. It’s more of a place where you hear the sound of old fans and people talking on the phone. We handle a lot of the paperwork that comes with the tea trade, making sure everything is documented properly. The staff here mostly takes the bus or the train in, and we’ve all been working together for quite some time now. We don't really bother with fancy titles or complicated hierarchies. Everyone knows what they need to do to keep things running. It’s a steady kind of job. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the loudest company out there. We just want to do our work properly and keep the business moving forward like it always has. Mangoe Lane is a busy place, but once you step inside, it feels a bit more relaxed than the street outside.
