If you ever walk down Ganga Dhar Babu Lane in the Bowbazar area of Kolkata, you will find us at number 16. Farheen Fruits Company is right in the middle of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation zone, and it is a very lively place to be. This part of the city is famous for its narrow lanes and the sheer number of people moving through them every minute. Our work starts very early in the morning, often before the sun is even up. That is when the crates of fruit start arriving, and the whole place smells like oranges, mangoes, or whatever is in season. It is a messy, sticky, and loud business. We don't have a quiet office with carpets; we have a warehouse floor that is always wet from the cleaning or the ice. There are empty wooden crates stacked up high and people shouting prices across the room. It is a bit of a squeeze when the big trucks try to navigate these small streets. We have been doing this for a long time, and we know our fruit. We don't need a fancy brochure to tell you that. People come to us because they know we are here every day, rain or shine. It is a tough job with long hours, but there is something about the energy of Bowbazar that keeps us going. We are just a simple fruit company in the heart of old Kolkata.
