Durga Ma Stores

We are located at No. 22 Bonfield Lane. This lane is quite narrow and crowded, so don't try to bring a big car down here or you will get stuck. Durga Ma Stores has been a part of this street for many years now. We sell all kinds of daily necessities and household items that people need. The shelves are packed right up to the top, and sometimes we have to use a wooden ladder to reach what people want. It’s a bit dusty in the corners, but we try our best to keep things organized for the customers. People come in and we know many of them by their first names or their families. We don't have an automated checkout or anything like that. Everything is done by hand, and we keep the cash in an old wooden drawer under the counter. Sometimes the street gets flooded when it rains heavily in the monsoon, and we have to put boards at the door to keep the water out. It's just part of living and working in this part of town. We are usually here from early in the morning until late at night when the sun has gone down. There isn't much time for rest, but we like being busy and talking to people. We don't do any big promotions or sales. People come to us because they know us and we have been here forever.
