Our office is tucked away in the Karunamoyee Housing Estate in Salt Lake City, Sector II. It’s a fairly quiet part of Calcutta, which is nice for getting things done. We’ve been involved with tea for a long time. It’s what we know. The office isn't anything special to look at, just a regular space in the estate where we handle the paperwork and the logistics. You can usually find a few samples of tea leaves sitting around. We spend our days coordinating shipments and checking on the stock. Salt Lake is a bit different from the hectic pace of central Calcutta, so we enjoy the trees and the slightly wider roads around here. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to make sure the tea gets where it needs to go. Most of us have been working together for years, so we have a good rhythm. We drink a lot of tea ourselves, obviously. It’s a relaxed atmosphere but we stay busy. Sometimes the monsoons make the commute a bit of a mess, but we always open up on time. It’s just a standard day-to-day life here at B 16/8. We don’t do much advertising, we just focus on the product and the orders. It's a steady business and we are happy to be in Bidhan Nagar. The neighbors in the estate are mostly families, so it stays calm throughout the day.
