Darjeeling Dooars Plantations (Tea) Ltd.

We are located on the 4th floor of Nicco House, right on Hare Street. It’s an old building, but it has a lot of character and history. Being in this part of town means we are right in the middle of the old business district where things are always moving. We manage tea plantations up in the Darjeeling and Dooars regions. Most of our day is spent coordinating between what’s happening on the ground at the gardens and what the market wants. It’s a lot of logistical stuff, honestly. There are always piles of documents about weather patterns, labor, and transport issues. The elevators in this building take a while, so we get used to waiting and chatting with the neighbors while we wait for the doors to open. Inside the office, it’s mostly just us working through the daily tasks of running a plantation company. We don’t have fancy rugs or high-tech gadgets, just old wooden desks and a lot of filing cabinets. Sometimes the tea samples arrive in small tins and we line them up to see what the latest pluck looks like. It gets hectic during the peak seasons, especially when the rains are heavy up north and the roads get blocked. We’ve been doing this for a long time, so we know the cycles of the tea bushes quite well. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. We just stay here in the city and make sure the gardens have what they need to keep producing.
