Cold Drinks Soda Water

Our place is at 270 Kalighat Road. If you know the Kalighat area, you know how busy and cramped the streets can get, especially when there is a festival or something going on at the temple. We have been here for a long time, and the building shows its age a bit. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint. We are usually too busy to get around to that kind of stuff, though. It’s hot work, standing behind the counter all day. The humidity in this part of town is really something else. People are always stopping in to wipe their faces and get something cold to drink. We have bottles lined up everywhere. Most of the time, the sidewalk out front is crowded with people walking by or rickshaws trying to push through. It’s noisy. You get used to the sound of horns and people shouting. We don't have a big office or anything like that. It is just the front area where the customers stand and the back where we keep the extra stock. It’s a straightforward business. We show up, open the shutters, and stay until it’s dark. Sometimes the neighborhood kids hang around out front. We have to tell them to move along so people can get in. It’s just a normal part of life on Kalighat Road. Nothing fancy, just a shop that’s been part of the street for a long time.
