Coco Genic Beverages Private Limited operates out of 22 Amratolla Street. If you know that area, you know how tight the lanes can be and how much is always happening there. It is one of those old parts of Kolkata that never seems to sleep. We deal with beverages, mostly things involving coconut as the name suggests. Our space isn't very large, but we make it work for what we need. The building has been there for a long time. Every morning we start early before the sun gets too high because the heat in these narrow streets can be really tough by noon. We move crates around and keep track of deliveries. It is a very hands-on kind of business. We don't have a marketing team or a bunch of people in suits. It is just a few of us making sure the drinks are bottled right and sent to the shops that need them. The smell of the market outside is always there, a mix of spices and everything else being sold nearby. We have our routines and we stick to them. Some days are slower than others, which gives us a chance to sit for a minute and have a tea. We just want to keep the business going and stay busy in our little corner of Amratolla Street. It takes a lot of effort to keep things moving when the streets are blocked by carts, but we manage somehow.
