It’s a busy street and there is always something going on outside our windows. The office itself is quite plain. We have our desks, some old filing cabinets, and a few chairs for visitors. We do consultancy work, which mostly involves sitting at our computers and talking on the phone. We aren't a huge firm with dozens of departments. It’s just a few of us who know each other well. We don’t go in for fancy titles or corporate meetings. We just talk over tea and decide what needs to be done for the day. Being in this part of Kolkata means we are close to everything we need. There are shops just a short walk away. Sometimes it gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but we have our fans going and we keep at it. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a sleek office. We just want to provide a service that people find useful. Our clients are mostly local folks or businesses that have heard of us through word of mouth. We like the familiarity of this neighborhood. It’s where we feel at home. There’s no big mystery to how we operate. We just show up every morning and do the work until it’s time to head home to our families. It is what it is.
