You can find us over at Rabindra Sarani, right at number 3. It is a busy spot in Kolkata, as anyone who lives around here can tell you. The street is always full of people, rickshaws, and trucks trying to squeeze through. Our place is right in the middle of all that chaos. We don’t have any polished signs or big advertisements outside. It is just a working space where we handle our tea business. Inside, it usually smells like dry leaves and old paper. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing things down in big ledgers. It is not a very quiet place to work because of all the noise coming from the road outside, but we are used to it by now. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are usually too busy with the day-to-day stuff to worry about that. We have people coming in and out all the time, mostly just regulars or folks we’ve known for years. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there waiting for the generator to kick in. It’s a simple setup. We just focus on getting the tea where it needs to go. There is always a lot of chatter and the sound of tea being moved around. It is just a normal shop in a very busy part of the city. We keep a few chairs for visitors, but mostly it is just about the work.
