We are located right in the heart of the city on what used to be called Mangoe Lane. It’s officially Surendra Mohan Ghosh Sarani now, but almost everyone around here still uses the old name when they are giving directions to people. Our office is situated on the first floor. It is an old building, the kind you see everywhere in this part of Kolkata, with high ceilings and those thick walls that keep the rooms relatively cool even when it is baking hot outside. Working here means we are close to everything. The streets outside are always crowded with people heading to the courts or the various banks nearby. We have our computers set up and we just get on with the technology work we do. It is noisy outside with all the horns and the street vendors, but inside it is mostly just the sound of us typing. We do not have any big signs or anything flashy outside. Just a small nameplate by the door. Most of our days are spent fixing things on the software side or looking at different bits of data. Lunch usually comes from one of the stalls downstairs because the food there is quick and it doesn’t cost much. It is a busy life in this part of town. We have been here for some time now and don't really see ourselves moving. It is a solid place to work, even if the stairs are steep.
