Assistan Professor

I am staying with Kiran Kumar at Plot 9 in the Bedapraganya Apartment. This is right in the Shoukheer Bazar area of Kolkata. Being an assistan professor involves a lot of reading and grading papers, which I mostly do from my desk here. The apartment is on the fourth floor, so there is a bit of a climb. It is a lively neighborhood. You can hear the market vendors from early in the morning until late at night. Sometimes the noise makes it hard to concentrate on my research, but I have learned to ignore it. The apartment is small but it is filled with books and journals. I spend a lot of time preparing for my lectures. Shoukheer Bazar is a good place to live because everything you need is just a short walk away. I have been in this part of Kolkata for a few years now. The tea here is excellent. I often take my work to the small cafe downstairs just for a change of scenery. It is a simple life centered around teaching and learning. My colleagues sometimes visit to discuss projects. We sit in the small living room and talk for hours.
