I’ve been working out of this spot on the first floor at 74 Bentinck Street for a long time. Calcutta GPO is just a short walk away, so the whole area is always packed with people and old cars. My office is up some stairs that have seen better days, and the walls inside could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to me. I don't have a big staff or anything like that. It is mostly just me and a couple of others handling the daily business. Bentinck Street is famous for many things, but for us, it is just where we show up every morning. The windows look out over the street, and I can hear the trams and the shouting of the vendors downstairs. It gets quite hot in the summer, but the ceiling fan keeps things moving. I keep all my files in these old metal cabinets and my desk is usually a mess of notes and pens. We don't have a website or fancy brochures because word of mouth has always been enough for us. People know me, they know where I sit, and they know I’ll be here from ten till six. It’s a traditional way of doing things, I suppose. There is no corporate ladder here, just me trying to stay on top of my work in this busy corner of the city.
