Swar Sangit Classes

In our part of Vishrambag, things stay pretty busy with people moving around Sangli. Swar Sangit Classes is just a small space we’ve had for a while now. If you walk past, you might hear someone trying to get a scale right on a harmonium or the thud of a tabla. We don’t have a lot of space, so things are a bit cramped. There are instruments leaning against the walls in almost every corner. We have a few old chairs for parents to sit on while they wait, but most students just sit on the mats on the floor. It feels more natural that way. The lighting isn't the best in the back room, but it doesn’t seem to bother anyone. We keep a schedule on a tattered piece of paper taped to the wall. Sometimes lessons run a bit late if a song is hard to finish. It’s not a fancy studio with soundproofing or anything. You can hear the birds outside and the occasional horn from a passing car. We just focus on the notes. People from the neighborhood know us. They see the kids carrying their instrument bags in the evenings. We’ve had the same rug for years and it’s seen a lot of students. It’s a simple life here. We don't talk much about goals or anything, we just practice. Sangli is a good place for music. It’s just what we do every day.
