About Samarth Glass – Industrial Plant & Machines in Kolhapur
If you look for Plot No 902 in E Ward, on the 6th Lane, you will find our glass shop. It’s a bit tucked away, but we like it that way. Glass is a tricky thing to work with because it breaks if you even look at it wrong sometimes. We spend our hours measuring, cutting, and grinding the edges so they aren't sharp. The floor is always covered in a bit of fine glass dust, so we have to be careful where we step and always wear our thick shoes. We have large sheets of glass leaning against the racks, and we move them around with suction cups and a lot of patience. Sometimes a sheet cracks while we are working on it, and that’s just money down the drain, but it happens to everyone in this trade. The 6th Lane is usually quiet enough that we can hear ourselves think, though the sound of the glass cutter is quite high-pitched. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the material. People come in with frames or just measurements written on scraps of paper. We do our best to get the sizes right the first time. It is a bit of a slow process because you can't rush glass. We just stay focused on the task at hand and try to keep our fingers safe. It takes a steady hand to do this every single day.
