Omkar Kadam

My name is Omkar Kadam and I run my business out of At Post Visavanaka, right along the NH-4 highway. Being on the national highway means there is a constant sound of trucks and cars passing by at all hours. My place is pretty small, just a simple structure where I keep my equipment and supplies. I don’t have a big team or a fancy office. Most of the time it’s just me and a helper or two handling whatever comes our way. The dust from the road is a bit of a problem, so I’m always cleaning the shelves. People often stop by because they see the sign while they are driving between cities. It’s a convenient spot for that. I handle everything from taking orders to loading the goods myself. It keeps me busy from morning until late evening. Sometimes I sit out front when things are slow and watch the traffic go by. I’ve lived in Visavanaka for most of my life, so I know everyone around here. This isn't some high-tech operation. It’s just a way to make a living and provide something useful to the folks traveling the NH-4 or living nearby. I don't use any complicated systems, just a notebook and a phone. It’s hard work and the days are long, but I like being my own boss and staying connected to the local area. Every day is different depending on who pulls over.
