College Of Forestry

If you drive down Kunda Road in Coorg, you will find us tucked away in the greenery. Since we are a forestry college, the setting fits what we do perfectly. It is a lot different from the colleges in the big cities because we have trees and open space all around us. The air is usually a bit cooler here, which makes the long days more bearable. Students here spend a lot of time outside looking at plants and learning about the local environment in Karnataka. The buildings are simple and have been standing for quite some time, so they have that old feel to them. We have a small library and some basic labs where we study different types of wood and soil. It’s not a place where you’ll find much luxury, just hard wooden chairs and old desks. Most of us who work here enjoy the quiet of the Coorg countryside. We have students coming from all over to learn how to manage forests properly. Sometimes the roads around Kunda can be a bit rough after a heavy rain, but we still make it in every day. We don't have any big marketing teams; it’s just the professors and the staff keeping the place running. It feels more like a small community than a large institution, where everyone eventually knows everyone else’s name. We just focus on the trees and the studies.
