Shri Balaji Seeds & Pesticide

Our place is in the MSCB Building over in Chandrapura. Being in the Ernakulam district means we see a lot of different people coming through. Shri Balaji Seeds & Pesticide has been in this spot for a while now. The building is one of those sturdy ones that stays relatively cool even when it’s hot outside. We have stacks of seed bags everywhere. You have to be careful where you step sometimes. We spend a lot of time explaining how to use certain things to people who are just starting out with a little plot of land. It’s not a high-tech operation. We have a desk with a lot of paperwork on it and a phone that rings more than it should. My brother helps out on the weekends. We try to keep things neat but when the shipments come in, the whole place gets messy for a few days. The smell of the pesticides is something you get used to after a while, though we keep those containers tightly sealed. We have a small window that looks out onto the main road. You can see the trees and the traffic. We don't do much advertising; people just know we're here in the building. It’s a simple setup. We close up when the sun goes down and the street lights come on. It’s a good enough life for us. Most folks around here are friendly and we like helping them out.
