At Project Garments Private Limited, we are based inside the Cochin Special Economic Zone at Kakkanad. Being at Plot No:38 means we have to deal with the regular security checks and the rules of the SEZ every single day. It’s a bit of a trek to get through the gates sometimes, especially when the shift changes. The weather in Kakkanad is usually quite humid, so we keep the fans going at full speed in the workspace. It’s a large plot and we have quite a few people working on the floor. Most of the day is spent checking measurements and packing boxes for transport. It’s a very practical environment. There aren’t many frills here. We have a break room where everyone eats their lunch together, and that’s usually when it gets the loudest. Outside, the zone is quiet, but inside our unit, there is always the sound of something happening. We’ve been operating from this Kakkanad location for quite some time. The staff knows the routine well by now. We focus on the tasks at hand without making a big fuss about it. It’s honest work and it keeps us occupied from morning until evening. Sometimes the power flickers, but we just reset and keep going. We don’t have a marketing department writing fancy stories about us. We are just a group of people at Plot 38 trying to run a steady business in the middle of the industrial zone. It isn't always easy, but we make it work.
