Citadel Readymades

We are set up in the Devason Board Building. It’s one of those older buildings that has been around forever. Our shop, Citadel Readymades, is on one of the floors there. We sell clothes that are already made and ready to go. No one has time to wait for a tailor these days, so they just come to us. We’ve got rows of shirts, pants, and some traditional stuff too. The lighting in the building isn't the best, so we’ve added a few extra lamps so people can actually see the patterns. It’s mostly just me and a helper running things. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything. We just want to sell enough clothes to pay the rent and have a bit left over. The building can be a bit drafty in the winter, and the stairs are steep if the lift isn't working. We spend a lot of time folding and refolding clothes because people like to pull them out to look. We don't have a fancy website or a social media page. We just rely on the people who work in the building or walk by. Sometimes we have a coffee and talk to the other tenants. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We just open up, tidy the racks, and wait for the next person to come in. It’s a simple business and we like it that way.
