National Productivity Council

Our office is tucked right behind Trinath Mandir in Bhubaneswar, which makes it pretty easy for people to find us once they know the landmark. Being here in Orissa, we see a lot of different types of work come through the National Productivity Council doors. It’s a quiet spot most mornings, though it picks up when we have workshops going on. The building has its quirks, like any place that’s been around for a bit, but it serves us well enough for what we need to do. We spend most of our time looking at how local groups can save time or use fewer materials. It sounds a bit dry, but when you’re actually sitting there with a shop owner or a manager, it makes sense. We don't use a lot of big words or complicated theories; we just look at the steps they're taking and see if there's a simpler way. The heat in the afternoon can be something else, so we try to get the heavy thinking done early. Everyone here knows their role. We’ve got a small team that handles the admin and the technical side of things. It’s a job where you feel like you’re contributing to the local area, one project at a time.
