Sringi Rishi Inter College

Down here in Ghatwa, life moves at its own pace. Our college is located in Karchhana, which is a bit of a drive from the main parts of Allahabad. We’ve got this building that’s been standing here for a while, and it’s where we spend most of our daylight hours. It’s a simple place, really. We don't have all those modern glass walls or anything like that. Just bricks, some fans, and a lot of desks. In the mornings, you’ll see the students arriving from the nearby villages, some walking and others on cycles. The dust kicks up a bit on the road during the dry season. We usually start the day with a bit of noise as everyone settles in. It gets quiet once the classes begin, though. Sometimes we have to deal with power cuts or the heat, but that’s just how it is in this part of the state. We’ve grown used to the rhythm of the place. The staff room is usually where we drink tea and talk about the day's plans. It’s not a glamorous job, but it feels right being here in the community. People in the 212301 area know us well enough. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. We just provide a place for the local kids to come and learn their subjects before they head back home to help their families. It gets very quiet in the evenings after everyone leaves, and the building just sits there under the big trees until the next morning comes around.
