Lbs College

Shop No. 2 on the Jammu Pathankot Road is where you’ll find the main office for Lbs College. It’s literally right on the side of the highway, so you can't miss it if you're driving through Kathua. You can hear the big trucks and heavy buses roaring past all day long, which makes it quite loud inside. It gets very dusty because of all the traffic movement outside, so we are constantly wiping down the desks and the counter. The "college" setup here is actually quite modest because we are operating out of a shop space rather than a big campus. We don’t have sprawling grounds with hostels or sports fields. It’s mostly just a place for handling the administrative work and some small group sessions. Students come in from all the surrounding villages in Kathua to get their paperwork sorted or to ask questions. There’s a small tea shop just two doors down where we usually get our morning refreshments brought in. The interior is very basic with white walls and a few plastic chairs for people to sit. We have some older computers that take a while to get going in the morning. Electricity can be a bit hit or miss in this part of town, so we keep a small inverter to make sure the lights stay on. It’s a very practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We don't have any glossy brochures. People just know we are here. It's a simple life on the road.
