Durga Arts

Our shop is right on Link Road, right across from the bus stand. It’s a loud spot because of all the buses coming and going all day, but we’re used to it. We do a lot of art stuff, mostly hand-painted signs or whatever someone needs for their shop. Being near the bus stand means we get a lot of random people stopping in to ask directions or just to see what we're making. The place isn't very big, and we’ve got paint stains on almost every inch of the floor. My hands are usually covered in some kind of ink or paint by lunchtime. We don't have a receptionist or anything; if you come in, you just talk to whoever isn't holding a brush at that moment. We started Durga Arts because we liked making things, and it just turned into a business over the years. It's not fancy. There’s a ceiling fan that makes a bit of a clicking noise, but it keeps us cool enough. Sometimes we work late when there’s a big project, and the streetlights on Link Road are the only things on. We don't have a big website or a social media manager. We just have our shop and our tools. It's enough for us. If someone needs a sign, they usually just know where to find us. We’ve been here long enough that the neighbors all know our names.
