Om Sai Krishna Traders

Our shop is right here on Railway Station Road in Potkapalli, so we get to hear the trains passing by all day and night. It’s 1-14-17, just a simple spot where we keep our stock and wait for people to drop in. The mornings are usually the busiest because that is when the first few trains arrive and people are walking past on their way to work or back home. We spend a lot of time just moving boxes around to make space for new deliveries. It gets pretty dusty inside, especially when the wind blows from the tracks, so we are always sweeping the floor. Sometimes we just sit on the bench outside and watch the traffic go by. There isn’t much to the place, just some shelves and a small desk where we keep the ledger. Most of our neighbors are doing different kinds of trading too, so we often share a cup of tea or talk about how the weather is changing. When the monsoon hits, the road gets a bit muddy and things slow down quite a bit. We just keep the shutters half-down and wait for it to pass. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the train whistles. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights, just the name on the front that’s faded a bit over the years. It’s home for us during the day.
