Sharma Pravesh Kumar Architect

I run my architecture practice out of 1033-E, Type-II, at the Rail Coach Factory in Hassainpur, Kapurthala. It is a unique place to work because everything revolves around the factory and the railway colony. I am Pravesh Kumar Sharma, and I spend my days working on designs right here in the residential quarters. The office is basically a room set aside in the house where I keep my computer and my drafting supplies. It isn't a corporate environment at all. You might hear the sounds of the neighborhood or the distant noise from the factory while we are discussing a project. Most of the people I work with are either connected to the railway or live in the surrounding parts of Kapurthala. We keep the process very informal. People come by, we have some tea, and we look over the sketches for their homes or small commercial buildings. Because I live and work in the same area, I see my clients almost every day at the market or around the colony. It makes the work feel more personal than if I were in a big office building downtown. I don't have a team of secretaries or a big reception area. It is just me and my work. I have been doing this for a long time, and I know the local building styles and the climate here very well. Kapurthala is a quiet town, and my work at the Rail Coach Factory reflects that steady, local pace of life.
