Travel Mitram

I’ve been working out of this spot in Greater Kailash, Jajmau for a while now. Travel Mitram is just the name on the door, but really it's just a few of us here. Kanpur is a big city, and Jajmau has its own rhythm that we’ve become part of over the years. We aren't tucked away in some high-rise building; we are right here where everyone else is. Most days start with a cup of chai and a look at the schedule. People in the neighborhood know where to find us if they need to get away for a few days. We don't use any fancy software to talk to our customers, just plain conversation and a notebook to keep track of things. Sometimes the internet is slow, and we have to wait a bit to confirm things, but that’s just how it goes here. We try to be honest about what we can do and what we can't. If a trip isn't going to work out, we say so. It’s better that way. Living and working in the 208010 area code means we see the same people at the market and on the street. It makes the work feel more personal, I guess. We’re just a local travel shop trying to make ends meet and helping our neighbors see a bit of the world beyond Kanpur. It isn't a big operation, just us in our corner of Greater Kailash.
