Shree Shanti Apparels is up on the second floor of Vinayaka Towers. Our official spot is No. 120/553 in Shivaji Nagar, right near the K.D.A. Market in Lajpat Nagar. Kanpur can be a chaotic place to run a business, but we manage. Being on the second floor means we carry a lot of boxes up and down the stairs. It keeps us fit, I guess. We deal with clothes and fabrics mostly. The space is filled with rolls of cloth and the sound of sewing machines. It’s never really quiet here. We’ve got some good people working the machines. Some have been here since we opened. We don’t spend money on fancy signs or decorations. We’d rather just buy better thread or fix a machine that’s acting up. Shastri Nagar is just a stone's throw away. The market downstairs is always crowded, so getting in and out takes some patience. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in Kanpur. We just want to stay busy and keep the customers we have happy. Sometimes we stay late when a big order is due. We just order some food and keep going. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. The air is always a bit dusty from the cotton, but you get used to it after a week. That’s life at Vinayaka Towers for us. We're usually here until late evening and the fans are noisy.
