Sbj Film & Media School

Up here on the 4th floor of Uday Plaza, specifically at 117/N/76, things are usually pretty loud. We are located in Kaka Deo, right near Suraj Hospital, which is a busy part of Kanpur. The school is where people come to learn about cameras, editing, and how media actually works. It isn’t a huge fancy campus, just a practical space where students get their hands on the gear. We spend a lot of time looking at screens and talking about lighting. Sometimes the lift in the building is slow, so we end up taking the stairs. It’s a bit of a climb but it keeps us moving. Classes happen throughout the day and into the evening. We started this because we liked making films and wanted a place in Kanpur where others could learn the same thing without having to go to a big city. The rooms are filled with tripods and cables mostly. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s how a media place should be. We don’t do big speeches or formal ceremonies much. We just show people how to use the software and the cameras so they can go out and do it themselves. If you’re around Kaka Deo, you can see the sign on the building.
