Pratham Apparel (India) Pvt. Ltd

Pratham Apparel is located at No. 128/268 in the Y-1 Block of Kidwai Nagar here in Kanpur. We have been operating from this spot for quite a while. It is more of a workspace than a shop where people walk in off the street. We have rows of sewing machines and long tables for cutting fabric. The sound of the needles hitting the cloth is something you hear from the moment we open until we leave for the day. There are stacks of folded shirts and pants in different corners of the room. We work on a lot of bulk orders, so things are usually moving pretty fast. The building itself is just a regular brick structure and it can get a bit stuffy when the machines have been running for hours. We have a small office area where we keep the records and handle the paperwork. It is not a very pretty place, with threads all over the floor and boxes piled up to the ceiling, but it is where the work gets done. Most of the staff live nearby in Kidwai Nagar, so we all know each other well. We eat our lunch together in a small corner of the workroom. Kanpur is a big city for clothes and we are just one part of that whole system. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just come in, do the sewing, and go home to our families.
