Murari & Sons Provision Store

Our place is at 119/99 Bamba Road in the Darshan Purwa part of Kanpur. This store has been in the family for years and my sons are usually here helping me out with the heavy lifting. It's a provision store, so we keep all the basic household things like flour, rice, and different kinds of pulses. The street outside can get quite crowded with rickshaws and people walking to Gumti No 5. We spend most of our day weighing out items and putting them into small bags. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning, but we have enough room for the stock. Sometimes the sacks of grain take up a lot of space on the floor and I have to step over them. Customers come in throughout the day, mostly housewives from the nearby lanes. We know which brand of tea or salt they prefer without them even telling us. The shelves are made of wood and they’ve seen better days, but they hold everything just fine. During the monsoon, the road outside gets a bit muddy, so we have to clean the floor more often. It’s a busy life but we are used to the rhythm of the neighborhood. We don’t really do any advertising; people just know we are here. It’s just us working every day to make sure the local families get what they need for their kitchens without much fuss.
