Down here at No. 57/67 B in Raja Market, things never really stay quiet. Mahakaleshwar Apparels Pvt. Ltd. is right in the middle of all the Kahu Kothi chaos. We have been operating out of this space for a while and the floor is always covered in small bits of thread and fabric scraps. It’s just part of the job. We make clothes here and the machines are usually humming from morning until late. The air smells a bit like new cloth and machine oil most days. Raja Market is a tight squeeze, especially when the delivery trucks are trying to get through the narrow lanes. We don’t have fancy furniture or a big reception area because every inch is needed for the sewing tables and the cutting boards. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour and we all just sit outside on the stools and wait. It’s a local way of living. We know the other shopkeepers around here pretty well and we share news over tea. We mostly just focus on getting the stitching right and making sure the boxes are packed up properly. There’s no big corporate vibe here, just a bunch of people working hard with their hands. If you come by, you’ll probably see us drinking tea or arguing about where a specific roll of fabric went. That’s just life in Kahu Kothi and we are used to it.
