Laam Men

Our shop is located in the Duggal Complex on N2 Road. If you know the Lal Bangla area in Kanpur, you probably know where the Gurudwara is. We are right near it. The complex is a busy place with different shops, and ours is tucked in there. Every morning we roll up the shutters and get things moving. Kanpur can be dusty and loud, especially around N2 Road, so we spend a good amount of time cleaning the glass and the counters. The shop is for men, and it’s a straightforward setup. We have the usual barber chairs that have been around for a bit. They are comfortable but they show their age. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. Customers usually come in and talk about the local news or whatever is happening in the market. It’s a good place to hear what’s going on in the neighborhood. We keep our scissors sharpened and the towels clean. There’s nothing fancy about the interior, just some paint on the walls and good lighting so we can see what we are doing. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that’s just part of living in this city. We like being part of the Lal Bangla community. It’s a place where people know each other and we just do our job day after day.
