Grover Hardware

Our shop, Grover Hardware, is tucked away in Chaman Lal Market, which is part of the busy Gumti No 5 area. The exact address is 118/490, Gumti Street. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know how narrow it is and how many people are always moving about. We’ve been here for years, selling all the small things that people need for their houses—nails, screws, hammers, and all kinds of door fittings. The shop is quite packed with inventory. We have boxes stacked up to the ceiling because you never know what a customer might ask for. It’s a bit of a maze inside, but we know exactly where everything is. It gets very hot in the summer, but we stay busy enough that we don’t think about it too much. Most of our customers are local residents or carpenters who have been coming to us for a long time. They stop by, tell us what they’re working on, and we find the right parts for them. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. We just show the items and tell them the price. Sometimes we have a bit of a chat about the news or the local cricket scores while we pack up the goods. It’s just a regular local hardware store, trying to keep up with the daily needs of the people in Kanpur. We’ve been here a long time and plan to stay.
