Tilak Nagar is a busy spot, and we are tucked away at No. 7/79. It is a straightforward kind of place where we deal with clothes every day. There are boxes stacked up in the corners and the sound of sewing machines is pretty constant from the back room. We don't have a big fancy storefront with lights and mannequins everywhere. It is more about the work of getting the garments ready. Most of the time, the air smells like new fabric and maybe a bit of machine oil. I usually have a cup of tea sitting on my desk that has gone cold because I got distracted by a delivery or a customer. The street outside is always noisy, so you get used to shouting a bit to be heard. We have been in this building for some time, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to stop. It is a lot of checking labels and making sure the stitching is okay. Sometimes we run out of thread or a needle breaks, and someone has to run out and grab supplies. It is just the daily routine of a small apparel business. We just keep our heads down and try to get the orders out the door without making too many mistakes. It is honest work in a crowded part of town.
