Makrandagro Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of 134 Haush Kotra, which is where Rahul Kumar lives and works. We are a small group of people who are passionate about agriculture, but we don't use a lot of big words or marketing talk. We are just farmers. The company was set up to help us get better seeds and maybe some better tools that we can share among the members. It’s not always easy to get everyone to agree on things, and our meetings can be a bit disorganized. We don't have a big staff, so we end up doing everything ourselves—from the heavy lifting to the boring paperwork. Sometimes the office is just a mess of seed bags and ledger books. We aren't trying to be a big commercial success; we just want to make sure our farms stay productive. We face a lot of challenges, like the price of electricity and the unpredictable rains that seem to happen every year. It’s a lot of work for not a lot of money, but it’s the life we know. We don't have a fancy website or a glossy brochure. If you want to know about us, you just have to come to Haush Kotra and talk to us. We’ll probably be busy with something, but we always have time for a quick chat about the crops and how the soil is doing. It’s just a real, local business run by real people.
