Kanaka Traders

Kanaka Traders is over on South Bazar Road in the Talap neighborhood. Our spot is pretty easy to find because we are close to both Ashoka Hospital and the Kannur Bus Stand. There is a lot of movement around here with people going for checkups or trying to find their bus. We see all kinds of people every single day. The road outside can get very crowded with cars and those little rickshaws. Inside our shop, it is a bit more organized, even though we have stacks of boxes almost reaching the ceiling. We don't have any decorations on the walls. They are just a plain grey color and we have some basic metal shelving. Most of our day is spent helping people and moving heavy things from the back room to the front counter. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep our account books. It can be a tight squeeze when we get a large delivery of new stock. We know most of the other people who run shops on this road and we always say hello when we are opening up. It can be a very long day, especially when the weather is humid and the air doesn't move much. We don't use any of those complicated computer systems. We just remember where things are and help whoever comes through the door. It is a practical business. We like being in Talap because everything you need is within walking distance. It is just hard work every day.
