Banasura Hill Resort-Waynad

Living and working up here in Wayanad is a lot different from the city. We are located in Pulinjal, which is near Vellamunda. It’s a bit of a trek to get here, but that’s what people seem to like about the resort. We spend a lot of our time just maintaining the grounds because the greenery grows so fast in this climate. There’s always a leak to fix or a path to clear after the heavy rains. It’s mostly just us and a few local staff from the village nearby. We don’t have a massive reception desk or anything, just a small area where we greet people. The rooms are simple and we try to keep them clean, though keeping the bugs out is a full-time job in the hills. We cook mostly local stuff in the kitchen based on what’s available at the market in Mananthavady. It’s quiet out here, especially at night when you can just hear the insects and the wind. Sometimes the mist gets so thick you can’t see the next building. We’re not a big corporate hotel chain, just a place in the hills that we look after. Managing things when the weather gets bad can be stressful, and getting supplies up the road isn't always easy. But we’ve been doing this for a while and we just take each day as it comes, making sure the guests are comfortable.
