The students come in from all over the local area and we just spend the day showing them how to cut patterns and put things together. It isn't a high-fashion runway kind of place, more like a workshop where people actually learn to use their hands. We have scraps of cloth everywhere and some old mannequins that have seen better days. Sometimes the electricity goes out if the weather is bad, which happens in HP, and then we just wait it out or do what we can by the windows. It’s a simple life really, just focusing on the stitches and the designs without too much fuss. We aren't trying to be some global brand, we just want to help people in Kangra learn a skill so they can find work or start something of their own. The rooms are usually full of the sound of people talking and machines clicking away. It’s a good little spot and we like being part of the community here. Most days are pretty quiet until the classes start and the fabric starts flying.
