About Saint Gobain Glass India Limited – Building & Construction Material in Kanchipuram
Our facility is down at A1 in the Sipcot Industrial Park. It’s a huge place, mostly because working with glass requires a lot of room and some very big machinery. The heat from the furnaces is something you get used to after a few weeks on the job. We spend our shifts monitoring the lines and making sure the glass is coming out the way it should. It’s a very industrial environment, with lots of safety gear, hard hats, and heavy gloves. There’s a constant hum of activity, from the raw materials going in to the finished sheets being moved by cranes. We don’t spend much time in an office; most of the real work happens on the floor. Sipcot is a bit out of the way, surrounded by other large plants, so the whole area has a very busy, productive feel to it. We aren't here to give fancy tours. We’re here to produce glass. The workers come from all over the local area, and many of us have been here since the plant first opened. It’s hard work, and the days can be long, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing those massive sheets of glass perfectly formed. We just follow the procedures and keep an eye on the gauges. It’s not a complicated philosophy, just a lot of heavy lifting and careful watching.
