National Gears

National Gears is located at 1, Margo Street, over in the Parangi Malai area of Alandur. It’s a decent spot that’s easy enough for people to find once they get off the main roads. We have been in this same building for a good number of years. The shop isn't very large, but it’s enough for the gear-cutting machines we use every day. The noise can get a bit loud when everything is running, but the neighbors are used to it by now. We usually start the day by checking the machines and seeing what’s on the list to get done. There’s no big corporate structure here, just a few of us who have been doing this for a long time. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, with new buildings going up and old ones coming down, but our little corner on Margo Street stays mostly the same. Sometimes we get customers who are in a real hurry, and we do what we can, though good work takes the time it takes. We don’t use any complicated software to manage things; we mostly just write stuff down in a ledger and keep track of it that way. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it hasn't failed us yet. When someone comes in, we just talk to them plainly about what they need and what we can do. It’s a quiet, steady kind of life here in Alandur and we just try to keep it that way while doing our jobs.
