Grt Hotel

We have been here at No.9, Vallalar Street for a while now. It’s a busy part of Chennai, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing around. Our place, Grt Hotel, is just a regular building where people come to stay when they have work in the city. The lobby isn’t huge, but it has enough chairs for people to sit while they wait for their rooms to be ready. We usually start our day pretty early, around 6 am, cleaning the floors and making sure everything is where it should be. The street outside can get quite loud with the autos and the motorbikes, but that’s just how things are in 600 062. Sometimes the humidity in Tamil Nadu gets a bit much, so we keep the fans going all day. We have a few staff members who have been with us for years. They know most of the regulars by name. It’s not a fancy setup with lots of bells and whistles, just a place to sleep and get some rest. We keep the keys behind the desk on a small board. Most people come here because they know the area or they need to be near the shops nearby. We don’t really do much advertising, word of mouth seems to work okay for us. It’s just a normal hotel run by people who live nearby and want to do a decent job every day.
