Blend & Bite

Started here in H L Colony a while back. It's usually quiet in the mornings before the Anna Nagar traffic really gets going. We spend most of the early hours just getting things ready, wiping down the counters and making sure the fruit is fresh. Pammal can get pretty hot in the afternoons, so that’s when most people start wandering in. The blender makes a lot of noise, sometimes it’s hard to hear what people are saying over the counter. We’ve got a couple of chairs tucked in the corner but mostly people just stand around and wait. It isn’t a fancy place. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, and the screen door sticks a bit if you don't pull it right. Most of the folks who stop by live right around the corner, so we see the same faces every day. We just try to keep things moving. Sometimes the delivery truck comes late and blocks the whole road, which makes the neighbors a bit grumpy, but we sort it out. It’s just how things go here at number 99. We don't have a big team, just a few of us trying to keep up with the orders when it gets busy. It’s a bit cramped behind the counter when we’re all back there. We keep the radio on most of the day, usually just some local station to fill the silence. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, and we just have to sit there and wait for it to come back on.
