Al Thimeri Exports India is located at No. 568/3 in Anna Nagar, specifically over by Baluchetty Chatram. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you’re coming from the main city, but we like the space we have. The building is pretty basic, just bricks and a tin roof in some parts, so it gets quite hot when the sun is out. We spend most of our time sorting through the items we export. There’s always a lot of dust because of the construction nearby, so we are constantly wiping down the desks and the equipment. We don't have a big staff, just a few local guys who know the trade well. We usually start early in the morning before the heat gets too bad. Sometimes we stay late if a big order needs to go out the next day. We don't really have a lobby or a fancy waiting area for visitors. If someone comes by, we usually just pull up a plastic chair and talk right there in the workspace. It’s a very practical way of doing things. We’ve got some old maps on the wall and a calendar that’s a few months out of date, but the work gets done anyway. Baluchetty Chatram is a decent place to be based because the transport links are getting better. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks one by one without making a fuss about it.
